Salt and Pepper

RECOMMENDATION

Unless you are consuming a diet high in processed carbohydrates and fats, adding salt to your meals is not dangerous. However, please check with your doctor if you have any issues with internal fluid retention which could be causing health issues such as ascites, as salt will make you retain water.

We recommend purchasing a good quality salt and pepper grinder so you can enjoy freshly ground salt and pepper as freshly ground will be less likely to have become oxidised and will retain a higher potency.

Why Salt and Pepper are good for us

CONSUME DAILY

Salt and pepper not only make our food taste good, but they have some fantastic health benefits. But not all salt and peppers are created equally.

Iodised table salt is generally made from sea water that has been dehydrated and heated to 1200 degrees, then the crystals processed, and anticaking agents added to stop it from clumping.

Himalayan rock salt however is less processed and therefore contains some helpful minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium all minerals that our body needs to stay healthy.

A deficiency in salt can result in our body retaining less water which can cause muscle cramps and an electrolyte imbalance.

A regular intake of Himalayan rock salt in our diet can also help regulate our blood sugar levels, hormonal balance and improve digestive function.

Black pepper is made by cooking and drying ripe pepper seeds. It contains a powerful anti-oxidant, piperine which a study conducted in Michigan’s cancer institute concluded that the black pepper along with tumeric can prevent the growth of cancerous stem cells in breast cancer.

Black Pepper adds a gentle heat to meals and due to its antioxidants, antimicrobial potential and gastro-protective modules, makes it an important part of our daily diet.
